Today, The Right Place, Inc. and the Newaygo County Economic Development Office (NCEDO) announced that it has assisted North Central Co-op (NCC) with a major expansion to its feed mill in White Cloud, Michigan. The $10,111,742 investment by the company to expand its animal feed manufacturing facility will be supported by a P.A. 198 tax abatement by the City of White Cloud. The city approved the support at its 10/16/16 meeting.
NCC has operated an animal feed manufacturing and distribution plant in Fremont, Michigan for over 100 years. The proposed expansion in the White Cloud Industrial Park will allow North Central Co-Op to meet expected future demand, improve quality control, and enhance on site biosecurity. The new location was chosen based on access to road and utilities, along with rail service capabilities.
“After researching feed delivery and manufacturing constraints for all customers, we found that we can service the majority of our customers with greater efficiency, and this new mill will allow us to do just that,” said NCC Michigan Region Manager Martin Hall.
The company had opportunities to expand outside of the county, but chose Newaygo, which will retain 12 jobs in the region. The project will also create three new jobs in the region.
Mark Guzniczak, Business Development Coordinator for Newaygo County Economic Development Office, assisted NCC with the expansion.
